“Anti-oppression and trauma informed care are core pieces of my counseling philosophy”.
Meet Our Intern
Beth Marshall, BA, Professional Counseling Intern
I approach therapy as a healing relationship that empowers you to close wounds, embrace identity, find meaning, and grow in your relationships and wellbeing. Therapy is a space for you to feel heard, seen, and be treated with compassion. I aim to work alongside you, and I trust that you are the expert on your life and experiences. My role is to help you find what you need to thrive, not just survive.
Anti-oppression and trauma informed care are core pieces of my counseling philosophy. Emotional wounds can come from personal experiences, significant losses, and relationships, but can also come from systemic oppression, historical trauma, and cultural messages. When we encounter something that has had a painful and overwhelming impact on you (trauma), it will be handled with care and respect, using research based methods that can help you heal. We can work together to build stability and hope, and foster acceptance for those things beyond our control.
I am a master's degree student in EMU's Clinical Mental Health program. I am a National Board of Certified Counselors Minority Fellowship Program Scholar, with a specialized focus in marginalized gender and sexual identities.

About Our Reduced-Rate Services:
The Center for EMDR and Trauma Therapy is committed to creating a way to support community members who may otherwise find it challenging to receive therapy services.
Whether it is because you do not have a healthcare plan that is able to be used or if out of pocket expenses are too high for your current circumstances, we can help with this by offering reduced-rate sessions with our highly skilled intern Beth. Beth is trained in EMDR and approaches all of her therapy sessions through a trauma-informed lens.
