Amy Marchant, MA, LPC, NCC
Welcome! My name is Amy and I am the owner of the Center for EMDR and Trauma Therapy, as well as an EMDR consultant-in-training. This means that I can provide a total of 15 out of the 20 hours of consultation that you need for your EMDR certification. I will provide you with referrals for completing your additional 5 hours of consultation, either through another consultant or with a group.
What Can You Expect?
During our time together, we will spend time discussing any questions that you have and reviewing active cases that you are working on. I will provide you with resources and additional information along the way.
EMDR certification also requires that I observe you doing a few EMDR sessions with clients. This can be completed either through review of video-recorded sessions or by me joining virtually during a live session.
The observation part of the EMDR certification process often seems intimidating for people initially. My commitment is to create a safe and supportive environment. You will never be criticized or judged and I will make it a point to acknowledge your many strengths along the way.
My Bio:
My professional journey began in 2012 when I earned my master's in professional counseling and I also became trained in EMDR the same year.
In 2020, I took a bold step by founding the Center for EMDR and Trauma Therapy. Within this space, I lead monthly case consultations with fellow clinicians, encouraging the identification of unique strengths and collaborative brainstorming. I also spend time providing supervision to interns, as part of an internship program I started at our center.
I am EMDR certified and I also completed a Clinical Supervisor Training from Advanced Counselor Training, LLC.
My Approach:
I take a collaborative approach in my consultation practices, supporting your strengths and providing additional resources when helpful.
I specialize in working with survivors of trauma, abuse, and neglect. I approach therapy from the belief that each client is a unique individual and therapy must be tailored to best fit their needs. When using EMDR, I believe this means sticking to standard protocol as much as possible but also recognizing when something needs to be adjusted to best support the needs of the client.
